AOC White Châteauneuf du Pape
Grape varieties :
- Grenache blanc, Roussanne, Clairette et Bourboulenc
- Since the vintage 2006, 40% Grenache blanc, 40% Roussanne, 20% Clairette
- Age of vines : more than 20 years old
Situation and geology :
- All grapes come from the Brusquières plateau (in the North) which is covered with these famous pebbles.
Harvest :
- The harvest covers two periods
- - the first Roussanne and white Grenache are picked up
- - then, a few weeks later around the end of the harvest, we pick up Clairette and Bourboulenc grapes
- Immediately after the picking, the grapes are destemed, crushed and squeezed.
Vinification :
- From 2006, the wine has been vinified in 25 % new oak barrels, the rest in stainless steel vats with temperature control (18°C).
- Furthermore, the malolactic fermentation is not searching for this wine.
Ageing :
- Ageing continue in barrels – with regular battonages- and stainless steel vats during 5 months depending on the vintage.
Tasting :
- The nose is very floral (acacia, linden-tree), very fruity (pear, peach) and quite spicy (vanilla). With the ageing, the wine will develop notes of honey and dried fruit. The palate is clean, nutty, and fruited with a long finish.
- Seafood and cheese are perfect matches
Further information :
- The bottling is in spring.
- The cuvee bottled without filtration is stocked in our warehouse air-conditioned at 16°C.
