(
)(casks/oak vat) dark red. Blackberry, raspberry, buffed leather airs lead the nose, a sweet crème de menthe angle present. The palate has inner vigour, if not yet integrated; there are some slightly chalky tannins and their “wire” along the late stages, after the mixed berry fruits of the attack. This needs time to fuse and to amplify further. There are flashes of fruit late on that indicate that it can get together. Decanting advised. 15.5°. From mid-2019. 2030-31
John Livingstone – February 2018
Slightly creamy nuances. Light toffee and spice across ripe, brambly plums and dark berries. The palate has redder-fruit flavors. Sheer, measured and nicely balanced with plenty of flavor. Drink or hold.
93 Points – James Suckling – August 2018
The 2016 Vacqueyras Cuvée Spéciale is a killer Vacqueyras that has tons of violets, spice, and minerality as well as more garrigue and sweet Grenache fruit with time in the glass. Deep, medium to full-bodied, gorgeously textured, and balanced, it needs short-term cellaring but will keep for a decade.

(large barrel/casks) mild red robe, typical Grenache. The bouquet is also a genuine child of the Grenache thanks to its serene strawberry and plum-fruited, hum of flowers aroma. It has a dainty outer quality, with some steady depth within. The palate works well on its fluid, stroking texture, giving a raspberry jam, thick coulis flavour with liberal pepper spicing. The finish is lightly chewy, with sound freshness. This is an interesting Vacqueyras delivered with some subtleties. There is power that is pretty well camouflaged. 15°. 4,200 b. 100% Gren.
